Acting and Agents
Today, we're going to be going over why you would need an agent for acting, and how that would effect your acting career. There are many reasons why you would want to have an agent. First of all, you wouldn't need to constantly look online for casting calls in your area. Second of all, you wouldn't be alone when you go to agencies to give them your resume. Finally, they can possibly negotiate your salary.Be aware that acting agencies can scam you, no doubt about it. One of these examples would include:
1. asking for upfront money without telling you what it's for. Never give an agent money upfront just walk away if that does happen, or ask what it's for. If there's no response, it's most certainly a scam.
Would you need experience in order to get an agent?
One thing that I will say is yes, you need experience. Even though some agencies don't require you having experience before you sign up. I would suggest getting experience before you get an agent. That way, you don't need to worry about getting paid in more experience at all.I have never had an agent in my entire start of acting. I am pretty much getting this from people who have had agents. You should be sure to get experience just to be sure you know how everything works on the set. Don't lie and say you don't have experience in acting. They could probably figure it out when you're on the set messing around, instead of doing what you need to be doing.
Could you have two agencies that you work for?
If you want more acting work, then I would say yes. There are also certain situations that you'd need to look at in order to get to another agency. For example, if your current agency introduces you to a new agency. That would be a way to get into another agency without worrying about a scam. You would know that it wouldn't be a scam cos it's through your agency, and your agency isn't a scam. You work for that agency, and get paid, right?that's all for today. Bye!
